Christmas Cake Decorating Course

Learn how to decorate beautiful Christmas Cakes

 

The day is ideal for complete beginners, without any experience, as all basic skills will be covered in a relaxed and friendly environment.


Aims: Provide a basic introduction to cake decorating and develop your own ideas and designs. Help you gain an understanding of the importance of basic foundation skills. To develop an understanding/technique in the use of a variety of basic tools and equipment.

Objectives: By the end of the day you will have an understanding of basic cake decorating skills and will have produced a completed Christmas cake.

Your Questions Answered

 

What do I need to know? As the day is aimed at complete beginners no previous knowledge is needed. To gain the most from the day you should be open to new working practices and ideas.

What will I learn? The day will cover the use of marzipan, sugar paste and royal icing mediums. Simple piping techniques. How to make an icing bag. Modelling work and designing a Christmas cake.

How will I learn? You will learn from practical work, demonstrations, and discussion.

What will I need to bring? You may like to bring a pen/pencil and paper. An apron. A fruit cake between 6” - 8” with a cake drum (½" thick cake board) at least 2" larger than the fruit cake. I will provide you with a cake box to transport your cake home. (You may bring along a larger cake but an additional charge will be made for extra marzipan etc.)


Light refreshments - home-baked mince pies, hot sausage rolls. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will also be provided. Please let me know if you have any allergies.
